The Evolving Story Display

Monday, October 22nd, 2007 by Thomas

Site update: Today we’ve cleaned up the Full Story display (both on the map and stories page) by combining and clarifying the options at the bottom.

The current options are Send to a Friend, Translate and a Permalink. In addition, if it is one of your own stories, you will also see the Edit Story link in this space.

More updates soon…

My Passport

Sunday, October 21st, 2007 by Thomas

We are working on a number of new features for MapSkip that require a more solid page for user information. So as a first step, we have now a new link in the header of each page - My Passport.

For now, the My Passport page offers statistics about your activities on the site, a list of all your stories and a section to allow you to review and edit your user information. In the coming weeks we will add some exciting new features to My Passport - so watch this space for updates!

Don’t Forget to Rate

Friday, October 19th, 2007 by Thomas

While we see a lot of people reading stories, we’d love to get more ratings, especially also for stories that have already a rating.

Whenever you read a story, simply click the star rating in the top right corner to let us know what you think about the story - it’s the easiest and fastest way to participate and make MapSkip a better site.

Change your Place Markers

Sunday, October 14th, 2007 by Thomas

As some of you may have noticed, it was up to now not possible to change the name of a place marker once it was on the map… well,  until today…

If you click on any of the place markers, you can now rename all the ones you have originally created. And in addition, as long as there is no story added to a place marker, you can also delete them.

Back to Work

Saturday, October 13th, 2007 by Thomas

We had a great road trip from Yellowstone all the way down to Santa Fe, and while we had a hard time finding WiFi & Time & Energy in the evenings, we at least marked up the places we had visited on the MapSkip map - it’s easier when the memories are still fresh!

I’ve now started adding a few stories to these places - you can check out the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone and a description of some of the gurgling, bubbling and hissing mudpots one can find in Yellowstone.

Both these stories come with photos and sound, and I’d like to encourage you to explore the option to add a sound recording to your stories - it adds a lot to convey the atmosphere of a place.

For the next few weeks we will spend time implementing some new features in MapSkip and we will announce them on this blog when they launch. Please feel free to let us know if there is a feature that you want to see on the site - we don’t want that to-do list get too short! :-)
