2009: Our Exploration into the Life of Our 16th President by vault10 in Mrs. Ault's Class
My fifth grade class is embarking on a journey to discover all they can about the life of our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. We will begin by writing some guiding questions and then researching to find the answers. Our findings may take on several forms, one of which will include using this site to track Abe's life journey, beginning in Kentucky, stopping for many of his formative years in southern Indiana, and on to Illinois and beyond.

I am anxious to see where my students and I will on our journey.

Your first assignment is to tell me what you already know about Abraham Lincoln. You can include a description as to who he was and why was he important. You may also include any questions that you would like to have answered through our research-based project. You need to write one to two paragraphs.

Then, please read over and comment on at least one other student's work. Once you are finished with that, you may begin your research into Lincoln's birthplace. You will need to know when and where was he born, parents' names, if he had any siblings, what life was like for him and his family in the early years, and why they moved. After you have conducted your research, find the next "spot" on the map. I have posted your next assignment there. Good Luck!

Your next assignment is posted at Lincoln's birthplace! Happy researching!
